Event Details

The amazing thing about THE HITCH-HIKER is that it’s a clear cut, prime rib example of Lupino establishing her style before reaching her pinnacle. Fans of road movies, moody noirs and beware-of-hitch-hiker tales- this is tailor-made for you. It’s a slow-burning fuse that’s triumphantly feminine in the sense of watching what happens when a woman puts three dudes with guns (one being the always excellent noir king Edmond O’Brien) and bad tempers in a car together. It’s a crockpot waiting to burst and Lupino turns it into a revving engine.

Directed by Ida Lupino.
