Fortune & Glory Film Club presents an interactive Drag Along screening of But I’m a Cheerleader to celebrate Pride Month!
Fortune & Glory Film Club invite you to join us to watch this kitsch queer classic, with a twist!
But I’m a Cheerleader is a 1999 American satirical romantic comedy film directed by Jamie Babbit and written by Brian Wayne Peterson. Natasha Lyonne stars as Megan Bloomfield, a high school cheerleader whose parents send her to a residential inpatient conversion therapy camp to cure her lesbianism.
Co-hosts, creators and all-round garbage people Nana Arthole & Marilyn Sane are two drag artist sister wives based in Nottingham. Working together since 2015, they’ve established a reputation for their riotous rapport full of quick quips, audacious absurdities, and snappy storytelling. Together they’ve performed with collective DirtyFilthySexy, host a wonderfully ridiculous Drag Bingo each month at Rough Trade Nottingham, and produce the Unnamed Drag Podcast. Their latest venture is hosting Gladrags, a club-night celebrating music, fashion & culture. Follow them at Unnamed Drag Productions
Basically, alone they’re nothing, but together; they’re worse…
And on top of this, all this usual F&G gubbins:
⊙ Goody Bags full of interactive surprises to use throughout the film
⊙ Quote along with your favourite lines
⊙ Gender Ordeal costume contest
⊙ Specially selected trailers
⊙ Themed cocktails & snacks
⊙ Drinking games
⊙ A playlist of queer bangers
⊙ The innuendo chicken
⊙ Ip Dip Dog Shhhh! DVDs
We don’t really revel in cinema, we frolic!
Expect a shared experience, games, shouting silly stuff out, and (most importantly) a lot of laughs. BUT – there’s no peer pressure here! You can join in as much or as little as you please.
Fortune & Glory is an interactive Film Club for lovers of cult & crap cinema. Goody bags, drinking games, stupid contests, and cosplay. Like Secret Cinema on a Poundshop budget.
