Event Details

To echo the restoration of Yellow Submarine (1968) earlier this June, there is more of The Beatles coming to Edinburgh in September! Curious Cat | Cinema Club is making its opening party with Across the Universe (2007) – a magical mystery party you won’t wanna miss! Featuring 33 Beatles compositions, Across the Universe is one of the most polarising musicals ever made. The urban legend says Paul McCartney loved it. >Curious Cat< undoubtedly does and invites you all for a sing-along, heaps of colour, explosive strawberries, rock’n’roll frenzy and an unforgettable psychedelic dream. Bring all the love you can carry – because love is all you need.

Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time.

Screening offers free ticket for carers.
