#Crucial21DbW: Thank you & More to Explore

I want to thank everyone involved in the Crucial 21st Century Cinema #DirectedbyWomen communal blogging initiative in 2019: writers, editors, graphic designers, social media activists, readers, etc. This yearlong adventure in film love has been invigorating.

We published 274 posts during the #Crucial21DbW. Each post was written by a different film lover about a different film, TV episode, music video, etc. that they experienced as contributing something crucial to 21st Century Cinema. There was quite a range of work highlighted. It’s just a glimpse into what’s out there to explore, but I hope you’ve found it eye opening. And I definitely hope it inspires you to seek out opportunities to experience a wider range of work by women directors.

I want to give a particular shout out to each of the editors who volunteered so skillfully and generously on the project: Alena Schoonmaker, Amanda Konkle, Amy Starkey, BC Wallin, Bedatri Choudhury, Christl Stringer, Cody Corrall, Daniel Kiniry, Ellen Cheshire, Hugo Lau, Isabella DeLeo, Jenni Holz, Marie Ullrich, Marina Viscun, Marissa De La Cerda, Mary Beth McAndrews, Matthew Roe, Sara Clements, Shilyh Warren, Steph Brandhuber, and Steven Galvin. Thank you!

As we move into 2020 and shift attention to other initiatives, I want to take this time to share the titles of over 200 additional films, TV episodes, etc. that were under consideration by film lovers. Some of these were proposed by writers who ultimately chose to select other works as the focus of their posts. Some were proposed by over a hundred other people who expressed interest in contributing insights to the project, but whose schedules or other challenges kept them from participating. I thought this could help fuel your #DirectedbyWomen Film Viewing Practice for 2020.
