Reel Good Film Club Presents: Losing Ground + Panel Discussion
September 18, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm UTC+1
As part of Scalarama 2016, we’re really excited to be showing Kathleen Collins’ “lost masterpiece”, Losing Ground!
The film, the first feature film by an African-American woman, follows college professor Sarah (Seret Scott) over a summer, as she faces problems in her marriage to artist Victor (Duane Jones), whilst simultaneously finding her self-actualisation and empowerment through her relationships with her mother and a fellow professor, as well as through writing and acting.
Not just about love and marriage, Losing Ground explores subjects such ‘the black middle class’, academia, filmmaking and dance. Only now being recognised as the work of art that it is, this is a rare opportunity to see a film that has been lost for 30 years!
The film will be followed by a panel discussion TBC, and tickets are now available from Genesis’s website!
